  1. Debridement Wounds

Debridement refers to the process of removing non-viable tissue fron a wound surface. The result is the presence of a partial or full thickness open wound. Rapid closure of the wound will decrease the potential morbidity of wound complications such as infection, desiccation, further mechanical trauma, all of which will retard healing.

The immediate application of tissue engineered wound matrix to the debrided wound results in:

  • Protection of the wound bed by wound closure.

  • Provision of an optimum moist wound healing environment.
  • Addition of wound matrix products which can stimulate the healing process.
